How to record your iPhone screen with audio

Capture what’s on your screen, the app’s sound, and your own explanation. Here’s how to get the audio right.

THE QUICK ANSWER

To record your iPhone screen with your voice, open Control Center, press and hold Screen Recording, turn the microphone on, and start recording. FrameSaid also supports app sound and microphone commentary through Apple’s screen-broadcast controls. Some apps restrict audio or video capture.

First, know which sound you want

There are two useful sound sources in a screen recording: audio produced by the app, and commentary captured by your microphone. A gameplay clip might need both. A quiet app walkthrough might only need your voice.

The microphone setting controls your voice capture. It does not guarantee that another app will allow its own audio to be recorded. Before a long take, record ten seconds and listen back.

Record with iPhone’s built-in controls

  1. Open Control Center.

Swipe down from the top-right corner on iPhones with Face ID. If Screen Recording is missing, add it from the controls gallery.

  2. Turn on the microphone if you want commentary.

Press and hold the Screen Recording control, then enable Microphone. Leave it off if you do not want to capture your surroundings.

  3. Start the recording.

Begin recording, let the countdown finish, then return to the app you want to show.

  4. Stop and review.

Stop using the recording indicator or Control Center. Built-in iPhone screen recordings are saved in Photos. Listen before moving on.

Apple’s screen recording instructions

Bring the recording into FrameSaid

You can start a screen capture using FrameSaid and Apple’s broadcast controls, or import an existing clip from Photos or Files. Choose the route that fits what you have already recorded.

With Pro, add a front-camera reaction afterward and balance the original and reaction audio. A useful starting point is to let the explanation lead, while keeping source audio audible enough to provide context.

If the recording has no sound

Check whether the microphone was enabled when you needed your voice. Try a short capture in a different app to see whether the problem follows the content or the recording setup.

Apple notes that some apps do not allow audio or video recording, and screen recording cannot run alongside screen mirroring. FrameSaid cannot bypass an app’s restrictions.

Make the explanation easier to hear

Record a short test in a quiet space. Keep your speaking distance consistent and listen for distracting background sound. If the source clip is busy, use Pro’s audio balancing to give your commentary room.

Then trim the waiting around, review captions if you add them, and play the finished export once before sharing. A clear explanation is more useful than a long one.
