GAMEPLAY & COMMENTARY

How to record iPhone gameplay and add your reaction

Capture the play, explain the decision, and turn a great gaming moment into a clip with your point of view.

THE QUICK ANSWER

Capture your gameplay with FrameSaid using Apple’s screen-broadcast controls. Review the recording, then use Pro to add a synchronized front-camera reaction, trim the clip, and balance the audio. Export to Photos or share through iOS.

Set up a short test before the full run

Choose what the clip is about: a winning move, a surprising mistake, or a strategy someone else could learn from. That decision makes it easier to know where the final video should start and stop.

Check available storage and make a short recording to confirm the game’s picture and audio are captured. Some games or apps restrict recording, so verify your own setup instead of assuming every source behaves the same.

Capture first, react second

  1. Start the screen recording.

Use FrameSaid and Apple’s screen-broadcast controls to capture gameplay. Enable microphone commentary if you want to explain while you play.

  2. Find the useful moment.

Watch the recording back and decide what viewers should notice. Pro’s visual timeline lets you trim away the lead-in and the waiting around.

  3. Add your facecam reaction.

Record a synchronized reaction with your front camera while the captured gameplay plays. Explain the decision, the surprise, or the thing you would do differently.

  4. Prepare the final clip.

Position your facecam, balance original and reaction audio, and review captions if you add them. Export and watch the saved result once before posting.

Keep the game readable

Look for interface elements that stay in fixed corners: scores, maps, ability buttons, or subtitles. Place your facecam somewhere that preserves the information a viewer needs.

Then review the whole clip. A safe corner during one moment might contain a menu or important action later. Adjust your composition around the actual recording, rather than a single still frame.

Choose what should lead the soundtrack

Game sound can carry the feeling of a moment. Your commentary can explain why it mattered. With Pro’s audio balancing, make room for both without letting either one obscure the point.

If you already recorded commentary during play, listen for overlap with your new reaction. Keep the finished explanation easy to follow rather than filling every second with speech.

Match the recording to your plan

FrameSaid Free records clips up to three minutes at 720p with a small watermark. Pro unlocks unlimited recording length, 1080p high-bitrate capture, no FrameSaid watermark, and the reaction and editing toolkit.

Longer recordings still need enough storage on the iPhone. A focused clip is often easier to review, caption, and share than an entire session.
